Our parents, George and Dina came to Milwaukee in 1979 from a small village in Greece in search of a better life. Working factory jobs the first year and in search of the "American Dream", George and Dina began looking for a small place to create a restaurant to serve their favorite, authentic foods from Greece. They settled into a quaint place at 49th St. and North Ave. that was to be THE GRECIAN INN. George was the head chef and Dina the waitress. Their restaurant became the meeting place for Milwaukee Greek immigrants and as their reputation grew describing the fabulous food, great atmosphere, many others became regular customers. Just one year in business, The Grecian Inn was named one of Milwaukee's TOP 25 RESTAURANTS.

As time went on, THE GRECIAN INN expanded and moved to Wauwatosa to become THE GRECIAN INN FAMILY RESTAURANT on the corner of Mayfair Rd. and North Ave. After many successful years there, Walgreens bought out the corner in late 1994, providing a new opportunity to acquire the Karter's Restaurant and Half Pound Pub in Brookfield. After three decades of honest, hard work, George and Dina can now enjoy themselves a little.

With the natural progression of family, our second generation, Joanna has stepped in. Now, we are known as CAPITOL CAFE PANCAKE HOUSE & RESTAURANT and will always take pride in our family business just like our parents did. Because it is family, we get to know everyone that walks through our doors.
